Daring to Build a Better Life

The Solico Story

Every great company begins with an idea.

For Solico, that journey began in 1973 with a simple yet powerful belief: that food can make life better, healthier, and more enjoyable.

That belief marked the beginning of a journey shaped by innovation, quality, and a deep commitment to consumers. Over the decades, it has grown into one of the most recognized names in Iran’s food industry.

our history

The Beginning of a Vision

1973–1979

Solico’s roots go back to the early 1970s, when the establishment of Parsio and MRS marked the Group’s first steps into food sourcing and distribution.

During this period, hamburger production also began, laying the foundations for an approach that would eventually evolve into an integrated value chain—one that viewed food not simply as a product, but as an essential part of people’s quality of life.

Key Milestones
Establishment of Parsio and MRS
Establishment of the Demes dairy plant in Shiraz
Entry into food sourcing and distribution
Beginning of hamburger production and registration of the Solico brand

Building the Value Chain

1980–1990

The 1980s marked a period of diversification and expansion for Solico Group.

The product portfolio expanded into seafood, meat products, and pickles, transforming Solico from a single-category producer into a diversified food group.

One of the most significant milestones came in 1988, when Solico began exporting its products for the first time. This marked an important turning point, demonstrating the potential of Solico products to reach markets beyond Iran’s borders.

Entering the Dairy Era and Innovating the Product Portfolio

1991–1999

This period marked a defining chapter in Solico’s history: the Group’s significant entry into the dairy industry through the Kalleh brand.

The production of milk, yoghurt, ice cream, milk powder, a wide range of cheeses, and dairy desserts established Solico as a major player in the category.

A strong focus on product development, formulation, and portfolio diversity also began to define the Group’s approach to innovation, an approach that would become a lasting part of its identity.

Expansion of cheese and dairy dessert production
Production of milk, yoghurt, ice cream, and milk powder

Expanding Distribution and Building a National Presence

2000–2009

Having a strong product was only part of the journey. The next challenge was making it accessible to consumers across the country.

During this period, Solico built one of Iran’s most extensive distribution networks. The introduction of pre-ordering systems and the implementation of a Route-to-Market (RTM) model transformed the way products moved from factories to retail outlets.

The establishment of 31 provincial distribution centers helped create an integrated nationwide distribution network and strengthened the Group’s presence across Iran.

Implementation of the Route-to-Market (RTM) model

Regional and International Expansion

2010–2014

With its position in the domestic market firmly established, Solico began accelerating its international expansion.

Exports to Middle Eastern markets gained momentum, with Solico products reaching the United Arab Emirates, Iraq, Afghanistan, and CIS markets.

This period laid important foundations for Solico’s international identity and demonstrated the scalability of its integrated value chain across borders.

Global Innovation and Organisational Transformation

2015–2024

This was a transformative decade in Solico’s development, as the Group evolved from a large food company into a more integrated and technology-enabled ecosystem.

The implementation of integrated systems, including SAP, ERP, and the TAMIZ platform, helped create more connected, data-driven organizational processes.

The launch of Asia’s first milk refinery of its kind marked a new milestone in production technology and dairy processing in the region.

During the same period, Solico established SOTECH, expanded its manufacturing infrastructure in the UAE through SOFOOD, and invested in education and health-focused products—strengthening its capabilities in innovation, international development, and future-oriented growth.
